MAINTENANCE

Every Race Meeting

AIRFILTER – The air filter must be cleaned every meeting and oiled with an appropriate foam filter oil.

ENGINE OIL – The engine oil level should be checked every meeting, and changed no longer than every 10 hours of use

As Required

CLUTCH – The clutch shoes should be cleaned as required, by using either 800 grit sand paper or Scotch Brite.  It is designed to engage at 4200 RPM so if the engine no longer starts to engage by this point an inspection should be done.

CARBURETOR – The carby should be cleaned and diaphragms changed as required

SPARK PLUG – Being a 4 stroke engine, the spark plug does not need to be changed as often as other kart engines.

SPARK ARRESTER – If fitted (this can be removed under AIDKA rules) should be cleaned on a regular basis.

100 Hours

Honda recommend items such as Valve clearances, and other internal checks be performed at this time.

SPARK PLUG

The recommended plugs are as follows

NGK – CM5H, CMR5H

The plug gap should be set to 0.60mm – 0.70mm

RECOMMENDED OILS & FLUIDS

We recommend the following oils for the GX35 engine

SAE 10W-30 is recommended for general use.  The engine holds approximately 80ml oil but use the oil level indicator to fill to the correct level.
